Each summer, the Omar Shrine Center in Mount Pleasant hosts a fundraising event. This year’s event, the 6th Annual Omar Shrine Sportsman’s Banquet will be held on Saturday, August 1st. Jim Gates, recorder for the Omar Shrine Center, and Ken Skipper, the organization’s treasurer, shared the details on this year’s event, including how to purchase tickets. The banquet features live auctions and raffles, and the pair shared some of the prizes that could be won and items that could be bid on. They also discussed the Shriners role in our local community, along with sharing details on the Shriner’s Hospitals, where children receive care, free of charge. Included were details about the organization’s partnership with the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.
