The last Sunday in April in the Town of Mount Pleasant is reserved for the town’s largest festival, the annual “Blessing of the Fleet.” The event celebrates the shrimping industry in Mount Pleasant and includes a blessing of the vessels that do the shrimping. Nicole Harvey, with the town of Mount Pleasant, laid out what people could expect when attending this year’s “Blessing.” The free event includes live entertainment, contests, games and lots of shrimp. Danna Robinson provided the reason behind Harris Teeter’s support as one of the two main sponsors of the event. She spoke of the importance of connecting with the community and Harvey added the difference Harris Teeter’s sponsorship makes. Harvey also explained the charity aspect of the event, who will benefit from the 2026 Blessing of the Fleet and its economic impact on Mount Pleasant.
