Lowcountry Forever – Beautification Transformation Project – June 14, 2026

LOWCOUNTRY FOREVER – June 14, 2026
GUEST:
Jim Haag, Founder and Director
ISSUE: Environmental Concerns

Trash is a problem in many Lowcountry communities. This summer in Mount Pleasant, that trash will be turned into art as part of the Beautification Transformation Project. The project is the idea of Jim Haag, who saw a growing about of trash on the side of the streets he regularly runs. His idea is to have a 2-week trash collection period, with local country artists provided the opportunity to take that trash, and over 30 days, create pieces of art. Haag explains how people can become involved in the clean-up. The project, which has received the support of the Town of Mount Pleasant, will also be a contest for the artists participating. Those artists can sign-up to participate and Haag shared how that works. Plus, the project itself is a fundraiser for the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.
