Gary Goldman is the founder of the ride, and the event director, who is originally from New York and lost a good friend when the towers fell. He created this free event and involved local police and fire departments so the ride would be police escorted as it moves through the Lowcountry. In addition to the ride, the event begins with a pre-ride breakfast and ends with an after-ride party that features speeches from local political leaders and a New York City fireman.
