June 15-26 & July 6-17 | Walterboro & St. George

South Carolina is known for ranking 9th in the country for drowning deaths, with most numbers coming from Dorchester, Berkeley, and Colleton counties. Each year, the number of near-drowning or drowning emergency room visits grows even more due to lack of water safety training. The Summerville Family YMCA has stepped up to combat these numbers and to teach children how to swim, as well as the importance of water safety.

This summer, the Splash Into Safety program is coming back exclusively in Walterboro and St. George. For just $5, $1 for each day of the 5-day program, children and their parents can participate in learning critical, life-saving water skills as well as CPR training to help reduce the number of water-related emergencies across the Lowcountry and the state. The entire program is four weeks, with two weeks between June 15th and June 26th in Walterboro at Colleton County Parks & Rec, and two weeks between July 6th and July 17th in St. George at Davis-Bailey Park.

Registration is now open for half-hour timeslots, so be sure to pick your location and time before the program is full. Get more information and register today by clicking here.
