Monday, Jan. 19 | Burke High School

It all started with a dream. Nearly 63 years ago, Dr, Martin Luther King Jr. Gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech in Washington D.C. to denounce racial inequality and promote unity among all races and creeds. This year, the YWCA of Charleston is hosting its annual MLK Day Parade in honor of Dr. King’s legacy.

The 2026 MLK Day Parade is happening Jan. 19 in Downtown Charleston, beginning at Burke High School and ending at Mother Emmanuel AME. Registration for a spot in the parade is open now until Jan. 12, so don’t miss this special event! Take a stand and march against racism while honoring Dr. King’s unwavering memory in shaping racial equality and justice.
