Fishing for A Cause
The 56th Annual King Mackerel & Inshore Fishing Tournament
Registration July 9th, Fish Day July 11th | James Island Yacht Club
For its 56th year, the James Island Yacht Club is hosting their annual fishing tournament that benefits a local charity, namely Pickle’s People, a local non-profit that advocates for childhood cancer awareness, founded by the family of Eliza Cate “Pickle” Volousky. Anglers from all around the Lowcountry are invited to join in one of the biggest fishing tournaments in the state, culminating in a massive weigh-in with all proceeds going directly to Pickle’s People.
Before the tournament, a Captains Meeting will be held on Thursday, July 9th at the James Island Yacht Club. Registration for the tournament will begin at 5:30pm, with the meeting at 7pm. Rules and other relevant event information will be shared during the meeting, which will also feature live music, food, drinks, and raffles.
The King Mackerel & Inshore Fishing Tournament begins Saturday, July 11th at 6:30am (with Sunday, July 12 being a make-up day, depending on weather) and will end around 5pm. The weigh-in period will go from 3pm to 5pm, and all fish must be checked in before 5. Awards will be presented for the teams with the largest fish weighed in at 7pm, with only one fish per boat being eligible for the top prize.
