Born and raised in Greenville, SC, DJ TanTrum has been DJing since the age of 19, he started out as the “CD Man” of his high school and College of Charleston (CofC)’s go-to for hot music to burn. A sports injury  in college came as a sign it was time to focus on what he loved most: DJing. Here, he met DJ Unstable, out of Atlanta, who became a mentor and guide, jump-starting TanTrum’s career.

Unstable’s influence aside, TanTrum’s skills have been shaped by heavy-hitters of the game: DJ Jazzy Jeff, Funk Master Flex, Kid Capri and Grandmaster Flash to name a few. The result is a versatile sampling of Hip Hop, R&B, Old School, Reggae, House, and EDM.

His sets have powered some of the biggest college parties and hottest venues across South Carolina and beyond. Career highlights include touring with T-Pain and Yo Gotti and sharing stages with Young Dro, Travis Porter, Pastor Troy, Verse Simmons, Jay Lyriq, and Tay Dizm.

In 2013, with the relaunch of Charleston’s 99.3 The Box, DJ TanTrum secured his place as one of the city’s premier DJs. Today, he serves as Assistant Program Director and drive-time host (2–6 pm, Weekdays and Saturdays), shaping the sound of Charleston radio while growing his profile as a Twitch Partner and an Official Ciroc DJ. Along the way, he earned a 2016 Geechee One Award for Radio Personality Of The Year and continues to appear at major community and cultural events across the state.

Over two decades, DJ TanTrum has become recognized not just as a club and event favorite but as one of the top-tier open-format DJs in Charleston, one of the top three hip-hop DJs in the city, and a respected member of South Carolina’s upper echelon of DJs from 2005–2025. His mix of radio influence, live performances, live streams, digital platforms, and community presence sets him apart as both a tastemaker and cultural ambassador.

A dedicated father and creative force, DJ TanTrum continues to balance family, broadcasting, live events, and digital innovation, proving his career is only gaining momentum.
